This course is intended to teach Law Enforcement, Fire and Private Investigators basic crime scene investigation
techniques and how drastically those techniques change when a fire is involved. Aspects of NFPA 921 and NFPA
1033 are discussed during this course as well as the requirements for the International Association of Arson
Investigators’ Evidence Collection Technician exam and certification. A large portion of this course is hands-on and
will require students to dust for latent fingerprints, collect DNA samples, collect fibers, conduct systematic searches in
mock crime scenes and much more. Students are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. Class is limited to the first
forty students.
